Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech continues to make headlines, and recently retired Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce revealed he had some fun with his wife, Kylie, over the matter.

The Kansas City Chiefs kicker addressed the women at Benedictine College’s graduation ceremony back on May 11.

Travis Kelce delights fans at Kelce Jam with heartfelt act of kindness

Several of his opinions have been met with criticism, especially one in which he told females in attendance that their “most important title” should be “homemaker.”

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world,” said Butker.

“I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”

Jason has fun with comments

Jason Kelce sat down with brother Travis on their ‘New Heights’ podcast and talked about the matter, with the former Eagles player revealing his wife wasn’t pleased with some of Butker’s comments.

“My wife, she was, I think, a little bit frustrated with some of the comments,” Jason, 36, shared. “Initially, I said, ‘You’re going to need to go back into the kitchen and make me a sandwich. I’m listening to the game right now.'”

This got a laugh out Travis, who had just stated he was proud about how they were discussing the matter.

“I hope she didn’t hear this,” said Jason.

He then stated that while he wasn’t a fan of everything that Butker had to say, there were parts that resonated with him.

“I can listen to somebody talk and take great value in it, like when he’s talking about the importance of family and the importance that a great mother can make,” Jason explained.

“When you’re listening to somebody talk, you take things in that you like. You listen to other things and you say, ‘I don’t f-king like that.'”

Travis then noted that football allows people to work together and grow despite differing opinions on topics.

“You put your differences aside for goal in common, and that’s the beauty of team sports,” the Chiefs tight end added.

“I’m just going to go back to my beliefs through my family and how I was brought into this world, and my views are never going to be the same as the man next to me.”
