Recently retired former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce said he doesn’t “get why people do roasts” following to seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady‘s Netflix special Sunday (May 5) night.

Kelce discussed Brady’s roast on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast alongside his brother and co-host, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, released on Wednesday (May 8).

“It was pure entertainment and I’m really happy they did it but I just don’t get the roasts,” he said. “I don’t know why people do it. Maybe I take myself too seriously … It was star-studded. The best part about it was how many just iconic NFL and celebrities of immense stature that were there.

“Not to mention the entire Patriots dynasty showing up for Tom. That being said, I really don’t f–king get it. I don’t get why people do roasts. I don’t get why they are a thing. Haha, yeah, my family’s ruined, it’s so funny, everyone’s laughing, it’s great, we’re having fun, yeah right.’”

Kelce’s comments come amid reports that Brady’s ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, believes he “once again put football before his family,” according to Page SixA source with knowledge of the situation previously told PEOPLE.com that Bündchen, who shares two children with Brady, was “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.”

“As always, [Bündchen’s] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted,” the source added.

Page Six acknowledged that Brady went along with several jokes about his marriage and Bündchen’s relationship with jiu-jitsu trainer Joaquim Valente, but warned comedian Jeff Ross “don’t say that s**t again” after he told a joke about New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft‘s 2019 arrest for soliciting prostitution in a Florida massage parlor, which resulted in charges against him being dropped.

Brady and Bündchen share two children together and the retired quarterback has another son from his prior relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan, which was also referenced multiple times during the roast. The 3-hour long roast covered several other controversial topics including Brady’s $30 million losses in Crypto.com, the Patriots’ alleged involvement in the Spygate and Deflategate controversies, and the retired quarterback’s relationship with longtime head coach Bill Belichick, who also participated in the event.
