Inside Greg Gutfeld’s Life After Becoming a Dad at 60 Leaves Fans Heartbroken

Inside Greg Gutfeld’s Life After Becoming a Dad at 60: Embracing the Challenges of Fatherhood

Greg Gutfeld, the charismatic host of Fox News’ late-night talk show, has always been known for his sharp wit and raunchy humor. However, his life took a significant turn when he became a father at the age of 60. In a candid reflection, Gutfeld has opened up about the challenges and joys of fatherhood, admitting that it’s not easy and that he feels “terrible at everything” when it comes to parenting.

Before welcoming his daughter Mira into the world in December, Gutfeld described his life as “selfish.” He thrived in a world where his priorities revolved around his career and personal interests. In a personal essay for Fox News, he acknowledged that his “mastery of selfishness” had contributed to his success but recognized that becoming a parent required a fundamental shift in his mindset. “So becoming a parent at my age is forcing me to learn things many of you learned in your 20s, 30s, and 40s – that you have to think about someone else. And for me, that’s tough,” he wrote.

The transition to fatherhood has been monumental for Gutfeld and his wife, Elena Moussa. The couple, who have been together for over 21 years, welcomed their daughter into a home that has undergone significant changes since her arrival. In July 2024, they purchased a $10.5 million loft in SoHo, New York, providing ample space for their growing family. Gutfeld humorously noted that his “entire home has changed,” reflecting the new dynamics that come with parenthood.

In his essay, Gutfeld praised his wife’s resilience during childbirth, likening the experience to a “nine-month tour of duty” that culminates in “exhaustion and hormones.” He emphasized the importance of recognizing the sacrifices mothers make, stating, “And for that reason, we should treat moms like conquering heroes.” This acknowledgment of Elena’s strength highlights Gutfeld’s respect for the challenges of motherhood, even as he grapples with his own shortcomings as a new dad.

On his show, Gutfeld has been candid about his perceived inadequacies in parenting. He jokingly admitted, “I give emotional support, but you know, Elena is kind of, like, pretty hands-on and keeps me away from it.” His self-deprecating humor shines through as he acknowledges his clumsiness and lack of experience, saying, “She says I’m terrible at everything.” This honesty resonates with many parents who often feel overwhelmed by the demands of raising a child.

The announcement of Mira’s birth was met with Gutfeld’s signature humor. He shared the news on social media with a playful post, saying, “See, that’s how you keep a secret,” and expressed gratitude for the well-wishes from fans. His lighthearted approach to fatherhood reflects his personality, even as he navigates the complexities of being a new parent.

Gutfeld’s relationship with Elena has been a cornerstone of his life. The couple met in Portugal in 2004 while working for Maxim magazines in different countries. Their connection was immediate, and they married just five months later. Despite their public personas, they have maintained a relatively private relationship, choosing to share only glimpses of their life together. One notable aspect of their family life is their French bulldog, Gus, who has become a beloved figure on Gutfeld’s social media.

In addition to the joys of fatherhood, Gutfeld has also demonstrated a commitment to supporting his wife and her family during challenging times. When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, he adjusted his show’s schedule to provide more coverage of the conflict, recognizing the impact it had on Elena’s family. His efforts to rescue her mother from Ukraine showcased his dedication to his wife and her loved ones, further solidifying their bond.

As Gutfeld embraces the challenges of fatherhood, he continues to balance his career with his new role as a dad. He took a 46-day paternity leave from his show, a testament to his commitment to being present for his family during this transformative time. While he may feel out of his depth in parenting, his willingness to learn and adapt speaks volumes about his character.

In conclusion, Greg Gutfeld’s journey into fatherhood at 60 has been filled with humor, humility, and a newfound appreciation for the challenges of parenting. As he navigates this new chapter of his life, he remains a relatable figure for many, proving that it’s never too late to embrace the joys and trials of being a parent. With his signature wit and candid reflections, Gutfeld is not just a late-night host but also a devoted father learning the ropes of parenthood one day at a time.

In a personal essay, the new father wrote that he’s “mastered the art of being selfish,” which has helped him succeed, but now it’s time for him to change his ways.

“So becoming a parent at my age is forcing me to learn things many of you learned in your 20s, 30s and 40s – that you have to think about someone else. And for me, that’s tough,” the host admitted in his essay for Fox News.

“Once you have a kid, you can’t regret anything you did before that because to change the past would erase the possibility of that child.”

Gutfeld said his “entire home has changed” since his wife Elena Moussa, 42, gave birth to their daughter Mira in December.

The host and his wife quite literally changed homes in July 2024 when they bought a $10.5 million loft in SoHo, New York, which has more than enough room for their growing family, Realtor.com reported.

In his essay, he praised his wife’s resilience during childbirth, comparing it to a “nine-month tour of duty” that ends with “exhaustion and hormones.”

“And for that reason, we should treat moms like conquering heroes,” he wrote.

When discussing fatherhood on The Five, the host said he’s “terrible at everything.”

“I give emotional support, but you know, Elena is kind of, like, pretty hands-on and keeps me away from it,” he said.

“She said to me that I’m terrible at everything, like, she says, I’m very clumsy.”

During an appearance on the Club Random podcast hosted by Bill Maher, the political pundit said he knew Moussa was his wife from the second he saw her.

Greg Gutfeld’s statement on his newborn

During his absence on The Five, Gutfeld’s co-host Dana Perino shared a statement from the comedian on his newborn daughter:

“It is with great joy that my wife Elena and I have welcomed a baby girl into the world. Mira is healthy with a real set of lungs. She has Elena’s beautiful eyes and my rock-hard abs. We are hard at work teaching her three languages and putting her through rigorous workout routines. She is already very observant and has asked if Jesse (Waters) wears a toupee. I told her that he definitely wears a wig.'”

“I met her and I go, ‘Oh, that’s my wife.’ I just knew it,” he recalled.

“And then I spent three days in Portugal trying to talk to her.”

The couple married only five months after meeting, and despite their public careers, they’ve kept most of their relationship relatively private.

One thing the couple hasn’t kept private is their french bulldog Gus.

Gus joined their family in October 2022. and has since become a star on the comedian’s Instagram, making weekly appearances.

HEROIC REUNION

The couple made also headlines in 2022 when Gutfeld announced, in support of his wife and her family, that he would adjust his show’s regular schedule to allow for more coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Moussa was born in Russia but moved to the US with her husband, however, the rest of her family relocated to Ukraine.

When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Gutfeld worked with his Fox News coworkers to rescue Moussa’s mother from the country.

Moussa and her mother reunited in an emotional video where the designer embraced her mother and whispered “Thank God” in Russian.

Gutfeld thanked his Fox News peers reporting from Ukraine, calling them “unbelievably awesome” and “heroes.”
