Warriors star Steph Curry is still recovering from a right ankle injury, but he is set to miss Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks in Dallas.
Speaking to reporters after the Warriors’ courageous 112-102 road victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday at Frost Bank Center, Steve Kerr addressed Curry’s status, revealing that Golden State will most likely continue without their star during a three-game road trip.
“Yeah, we needed that, and obviously we’ll reassess tomorrow, but I don’t expect him to play in Dallas,” Kerr said of Curry.
The Warriors, who had won their first game without Curry this season in San Antonio, lost the four-time NBA champion to a right ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s 125-122 loss to the Chicago Bulls at Chase Center.
Despite the fact that Curry’s MRI found no structural damage to the joint, his comeback remains uncertain. He will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, according to Kerr.
“We have another tough game coming up,” Kerr explained. “We clearly needed this one. We’re fighting right now in the last stretch of the season. So it’s fantastic to win and gain confidence even without Steph.”
Curry is averaging 26.9 points in 59 games this season, shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three.
Despite Golden State’s ability to win without its star guard, especially on the road, there’s no reason Dub Nation shouldn’t wish for Curry’s return sooner rather than later.
