Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce won’t be attending the Met Gala.

Despite both the singer and her NFL star boyfriend receiving invitations, TMZ has claimed that the pair have RSVP’d “no” to the star-studded event on May 6.

The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City‘s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This year, the date of the event coincides with the singer getting back on the road for her Eras tour, with her first stop in Paris scheduled for Thursday May 9. It is unclear why Travis declined his invitation to The Met.

Either way, fans of the famous couple will have to wait longer for them to make their highly-anticipated red carpet debut together.

Travis also did his part to support Taylor, flying out to South America and Australia for her Eras World Tour.

The sportsman gave a rare insight into their lives in episodes of his New Heights podcast in which he admitted he has no idea how he managed to get her into the NFL.

He told rapper and actor Lil Dicky of his current situation: ‘It’s fun, man. I’m having a blast in life baby, just flying high and enjoying it all… bringing new lives to the football world, and opening the football world up to new things.’

In response, Philadelphia native Lil Dicky said: ‘I think it’s the best thing ever, I love it. My take on it, not that you want to talk about it for the 5000th time, there’s something that makes people feel like the world is like high school.

‘Your most popular popstar, beloved musician, somehow met your most popular beloved athlete and they actually fell in love and it’s just real. Anyone who hates on it is a bitter loser. I think a lot of people who would expect to hate on it actually love it, and they acknowledge they love it because there’s something so American about it.’

‘I appreciate that,’ Travis said in response. ‘I don’t know how I did it, because she wasn’t into sports, so I don’t know how the f*** I did it.’

Lil Dicky then joked, ‘well, you did it because you said you called her out on your multimedia platform,’ leading to laughter and Travis replying: ‘Yeah I know exactly how I did it.’

Travis and Taylor’s relationship began after he attended one of her Eras Tour shows and then went on to tell his podcast listeners that he failed to meet her after the show, despite making her a friendship bracelet.

One thing led to another and the pair did eventually meet, hitting it off and swiftly becoming America’s hottest couple.

Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth are the 2024 Met Gala co-chairs. Also on the committee is Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

This year, the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. The dress code is The Garden of Time.

The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection.

The pieces will all be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI, and more while playing up themes of land, sea, and sky.
