Former NBA head coach George Karl chimed in on the league’s GOAT debate. He believes a current player in the league is the greatest player he’s ever seen, and that star isn’t LeBron James.

James is currently facing the Denver Nuggets against two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. After Game 1 of the Lakers versus Nuggets matchup in the first round, Karl shared his opinion.

With his decades of viewing and coaching basketball, Karl believes Jokic is the best player he’s ever seen. Jokic finished Game 1 of the series with 32 points and 14 rebounds.

Jokic has taken the league by storm the past couple of seasons. He’s already secured an NBA title for Denver, proving he can produce at a high level.

He’s undoubtedly one of the best players in the current NBA landscape, but the greatest in league history is questionable. Jokic will continue to work through his NBA resume, attempting to put his name at the top of the league’s tier list.

”I’ve been around hoops for 50 years and I’ve seen a lot of incredible players, including Connie, Julius, Michael, Tim, Shaq, KAJ, Kobe and LBJ. But, at this point, I’m thinking Jokic may be the best player I’ve ever seen play basketball,” said Karl, via X.
