Gwen Stefani maintains mystery over new brutal breakup song Somebody Else’s after Jimmy Kimmel makes ‘Blossom’ quip about its lyrics
Gwen Stefani maintained the mystery around her new brutal breakup song Somebody Else’s while appearing on Monday on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.
The 54-year-old pop superstar while wearing a sleeveless black lacy dress with sheer panels promoted her upcoming album Bouquet due out on November 15 through Interscope Records.
Jimmy, 56, after pointing out that Gwen was holding a single flower and not a bouquet on her album cover asked her about the lead song Somebody Else’s and noted the lyrics were ‘mysterious to many people.’
‘What do you mean?,’ Gwen asked.
‘Well, because people want to figure out who they’re about, the lyrics, and I think I know,’ Jimmy said. ‘Do you mind if I go through them?’

‘They’re out in the world already,’ Gwen said.
‘You’re somebody else’s and it doesn’t even break my heart,’ Jimmy said as he recited the lyrics, causing Gwen to giggle.
‘You’re somebody else’s, and I pray for them whoever they are, every day with you is rock bottom,’ he continued as Gwen laughed and looked over her shoulder toward the audience.
‘Leaving you saved me. My god, look at me blossom. You’re somebody else’s problem,’ Jimmy added as Gwen raised her arms victoriously.
The audience erupted into applause as Jimmy singled in on the word ‘blossom’ in the lyrics.
‘Why is my heart racing right now,’ Gwen quipped.
‘Because you know I’m onto this,’ Jimmy said.
‘Blossom was a television show starring Mayim Bialik. This is about her,’ Jimmy said.

‘Right, how did you know that? Good for you,’ Gwen said playfully.
‘No, you’re not saying who it’s about, right?,’ Jimmy said.
‘No, I think that most songs you just you don’t want to give away too much, you know what I’m saying? It’s a really relatable song, but I think what I’ve learned through my career, guys, is that if you just let it come out, people take their own, you know, thing that they need to get from it,’ Gwen said.
‘If you get too literal and explain, it’s one flower and not a bouquet. They get confused,’ Gwen said.
Somebody Else’s was released on September 20 as the album’s second single and its lyrics describe moving on from a previous relationship, which critics have considered to be referencing her former marriage to British musician Gavin Rossdale, 58.
Gavin earlier this month was spotted with his girlfriend Xhoana X, 35, who has made headlines for her striking resemblance to Gwen.
Gwen and Gavin were married from 2002 to 2016 and have sons Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10.
The No Doubt singer has been married since 2021 to country star Blake Shelton, 48.
Jimmy shared a photo of Blake recently riding an e-bike in Rome during a family trip and Gwen revealed that it was his first time in Europe.

The Voice coach said they went to a little town where supposedly her grandpa was from and they found a sign that said Stefani.
‘It was a funeral sign. Like a funeral home. But I have a picture in front of it. Maybe he really did grow up here. Anyways,’ Gwen said.
She also shared a story about her first time performing live during a talent show at Loara High School in Anaheim, California.
Gwen recalled that there were 13 people on stage for her ska band’s performance and she was singing the lyrics off paper because she didn’t have them memorized.
The fashionista admitted it was ‘all about the outfit’ even back then and she made a dress with her mother inspired by the ‘ugliest dress’ in The Sound Of Music.
Gwen also performed Somebody Else’s for the first time live on television on the ABC talk show.
