Gwen, 54, had 19-year-old Tanner Massey sing Thnks fr th Mmrs by the rock band Fall Out Boy.

Tanner had previously been compared to the pop singer Shawn Mendes, 25, whose vibe is completely different from Fall Out Boy.

During the pre-recorded feedback session between Tanner, Gwen, and guest coach Chance The Rapper, Gwen said: “This is a really good song for you.

“But it’s hard! Those first verses are really hard.”

Tanner admitted he needed to “change up” a lot of the song so he was able to perform it.

During the feedback session, the No Doubt singer called Tanner her “Pop Rock Heartbreaker.”

Both Chance and Gwen agreed that Tanner needed to “nail the original composition” of the song before adding in his style.

Before that advice, the contestant had added in several runs and some of his personal flare.

After his live performance, all of the coaches on the show hyped him up, and Gwen said he did “so good” and that she was “so proud” of him.

BAD CHOICE

Fans of The Voice on X, formerly known as Twitter, questioned Gwen’s decision to have Tanner sing a Fall Out Boy song.

One said: “Gwen isn’t looking past this kid’s appearance to hear him singing a boring song off-key. Yikes. #Tanner”.

To which another user replied: “I don’t get it. She’s not a good coach for him because she constantly tells him he’s amazing when he isn’t.”

“Tanner and bias are interchangeable with her favoritism,” added a third.

Another said: “Gwen needs to be able to say no, ’cause this song does not work for his voice.”

“I love Fall Out Boy, but I don’t think I would have ever picked their song for Tanner,” wrote a fifth.

CRYSTAL BALL

Fans have taken it upon themselves to predict the top three singers of The Voice ahead of the upcoming finale.

In a Reddit thread, viewers chose Ruby Leigh, 16, Michael Huntley, 33, and Nini Iris, 27, as the season’s top contenders.

Ruby is on Team Reba, and Huntley and Nini are on Team Niall.

One fan praised: “Huntley was a given. Nini is consistent, has star power, and amazing vocals. Commanding. Likable.”

Another fan added: “I think [John Legend] has talent on his team for sure, but I think if you put any of them up against Nini, Ruby, or Huntley, I just don’t think they have much of a chance.”

A third fan said: “Huntley is also very popular. I could see the final three being Ruby, Huntley & Nini, with either Ruby or Huntley winning.”

A fourth person stated: “Ruby’s a phenomenon.”

The Season 24 finale of The Voice airs Tuesday, December 19 on NBC.
