Gwen Stefani Cried and Said to “Cut the Cameras” During ‘The Voice’ Semifinals

Imagine singing so well, you make Gwen Stefani cry!!!

Okay, so just close your eyes for a second and imagine you’re a singer. Take that dream to the next level and imagine you’re talented enough to be a semifinalist on The Voice. And since you’re already in this daydream, let’s kick it up a notch and imagine you’re SO talented that you’re on Gwen Stefani’s team and she is so moved by one of your performances that she sheds actual tears over your talent. Wild stuff, I know!

This is exactly what happened on last night’s episode of The Voice, if you can believe. The competition is getting hella stiff, you guys—it’s down to the last eight singers before the show crowns the season champion! Which is probably also why Gwen couldn’t help but get emotional when the last standing singer on her team—Rose Short—performed a powerful rendition of Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is.” I mean, who the heck doesn’t love that song???

After Rose completed her heartfelt cover of the song, host Carson Daly asked Gwen for her feedback on Rose’s performance, but she was so beside herself with emotion that she could barely speak. “I’m not ready. Oh my god, I’m crying,” Gwen said. “That was unbelievable. I’m so in awe of you. I’m so honored to work with you.” And because the tears were too much to bear, she added “Cut the cameras!” so she could get a moment to gather herself.

Even Kelly Clarkson started tearing up! “It was moving, that’s why you’re crying,” she told Gwen. “You are a gift,” Kelly told Rose. “I don’t care what happens on this show, you are so blessed.”
