The singer’s fans took issue with the caption she used to celebrate her and The Voice judge Blake Shelton’s third wedding anniversary

Fans are sounding off on Gwen Stefani’s recent Instagram post celebrating her and husband Blake Shelton’s third anniversary. While the post seemed harmless at first glance, some fans believed she was shading her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale by declaring her love for her current husband.

The No Doubt singer shared photos of the couple’s wedding day on Instagram to celebrate their anniversary. “July 3, 2021, it has always been you,” Gwen captioned the photos.

Fans in the comments thought the caption might have been throwing shade at Gavin, who she was with for 20 years. “No, it hasn’t. Clearly you both had people and more importantly children before you met,” one critic shared. “It’s hasn’t always been you more like It’s become you … or something y’all are the songwriters.”

“Always?? What about 16 years with the other dude?” another wrote.

“It shows so much insecurity, her need to somehow put her ex-husband down in little, petty ways. It doesn’t give me a (truly) happy vibe,” another added.

“Yeah the caption is faulty,” another fan replied. Aside from the naysayers, other people celebrated the couple’s big day with thoughtful words, including The Voice host Carson Daly, who officiated their wedding ceremony.

“Thank you Gwen for lowering your standards to marry my pal, Blake. You are a saint,” he joked. “So honored to have married you guys in OK too. Love you.”

Gwen and Gavin filed for divorce in 2015 after 13 years of marriage. The split came after there was speculation that Gavin had been unfaithful while he was married to the singer. The pair welcomed three sons during their relationship, Apollo, Zuma, and Kingston. Gavin is currently dating Xhoana Xheneti. who some fans have said looks like Gwen.

Blake and Gwen began dating in 2015 after meeting on the set of The Voice. After a five-year relationship, the celebrity couple got engaged in 2020 and married the following year. Before getting engaged to Gwen, Blake had a high-profile marriage to ex-wife Miranda Lambert, from 2011 to 2019. Before that, Blake was married to Kaynette Williams for three years, and they called it quits in 2006.
