Fox News star Carley Shimkus has left fans stunned after revealing her intense daily routine, which involves waking up at an astonishing 1:15 a.m. to prepare for her role as co-host of Fox & Friends First. The 37-year-old journalist, who shares the morning spotlight with Todd Piro, has managed to balance her demanding career with motherhood, making her a source of inspiration for many viewers.
A Grueling Morning Routine
Shimkus’ daily schedule is not for the faint-hearted. With Fox & Friends First airing at 5 a.m. EST, she begins her day long before the sun rises. She has shared that her alarm goes off at 1:15 a.m., giving her just enough time to get ready and make it to the studio.
Despite the early wake-up call, Shimkus remains energetic and enthusiastic about her job. A self-proclaimed coffee lover, she revealed to The Daily Mail that she eagerly anticipates her morning cup of coffee before even going to bed. This love for caffeine likely helps her power through the early hours and maintain her signature upbeat personality on air.
Balancing Motherhood and Career
In addition to her demanding work schedule, Shimkus is also a dedicated mother to her son, Brock, whom she welcomed in February with her husband, Peter Buchignani. Motherhood has been a life-changing experience for her, and she has frequently shared touching moments with her family on social media.
One of her most heartwarming posts included a series of Christmas-themed family photos. In one snapshot, little Brock, dressed in a red Santa hat, sat on Santa’s lap—though he didn’t seem too pleased with the encounter. “Santa was not a hit, but he recovered quickly and is definitely still on the nice list,” Shimkus humorously captioned the post. Fans quickly flooded the comments with admiration, with many pointing out Brock’s resemblance to his mother.

Shimkus has been candid about her journey as a new mom. In a conversation on Janice Dean’s podcast, she described the early stages of motherhood as a “wild ride” filled with both challenges and joys. She also revealed that baby Brock is already getting a dose of political education, a nod to her role in the news industry.
Her openness about balancing work and motherhood has resonated with many, especially fellow working mothers who understand the struggles of juggling professional responsibilities with parenting.
