Fox News has officially confirmed a major shake-up in its programming, unveiling a revamped line-up that includes a familiar face stepping into a coveted prime-time hosting slot.
The changes come following the departure of veteran anchor Neil Cavuto, whose exit left an open slot at 4 PM on weekdays.q
Weekend Favorite Moves to Weekdays
Starting January 21, Fox & Friends Weekend host Will Cain will transition to a new weekday show, The Will Cain Show, airing at 4 PM ET. Cain, who has been a weekend staple since 2020, expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating that he looks forward to delivering “thought-provoking content and analysis every weekday afternoon.”
The shift marks a significant career milestone for Cain, who has built a reputation as a sharp commentator with experience spanning law, sports, and political analysis.
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised Cain’s addition to the weekday roster, emphasizing his extensive background and ability to engage viewers in key discussions. “Will Cain brings years of experience to the 4 PM hour as an accomplished broadcaster and a lawyer, and we look forward to adding his insights to what will no doubt be another historic news cycle ahead this year,” Scott said in a statement.
Cain’s transition leaves an opening on Fox & Friends Weekend, which will now be filled by Charlie Hurt. Hurt, a Fox News contributor and the opinion editor for The Washington Times, is expected to bring his own brand of analysis and commentary to the weekend slot.
Other Major Schedule Changes
Fox News is also making adjustments to several other programs:
The Fox Report Weekend with Jon Scott will now air for two hours on both Saturdays and Sundays, from 3 to 5 PM ET.
The Big Weekend Show has been extended to run from 6 to 8 PM ET.
The Big Money Show, which airs on Fox Business, has been expanded to a two-hour time slot from 12 to 2 PM ET on weekdays.
Dagen McDowell, co-host of Fox Business’s The Bottom Line, will now have an expanded role on that program.
Who is Will Cain?
Will Cain’s rise at Fox News has been steady since he joined the network in 2020. Prior to his tenure at Fox, Cain built a diverse career spanning journalism, law, and sports commentary. A Texas native, Cain attended law school at the University of Texas before founding and selling Quince Media, a publication focusing on Latin American culture. He later transitioned into media, taking roles at CNN and ESPN, where he became known for his appearances on First Take and hosting The Will Cain Show on ESPN Radio.
Cain’s approach to journalism blends his legal expertise with political and sports analysis, making him a dynamic voice in the Fox News lineup. His new weekday program is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the 4 PM slot, covering politics, business, and culture with a mix of debate and in-depth reporting.
The End of an Era: Neil Cavuto’s Departure
The network’s reshuffle follows the exit of longtime business anchor Neil Cavuto, who departed Fox News after 28 years. As one of the network’s longest-serving hosts, Cavuto left an indelible mark on business journalism. In a statement, Fox News recognized his contributions, calling his career “a master class in journalism.”
Cavuto’s final day on the network was December 19, marking the end of an era for Fox Business and Fox News. His departure left a significant void, but with Cain stepping into the 4 PM slot, Fox News is looking forward to a new chapter in its programming lineup.
As these changes take effect, Fox News viewers can expect a refreshed lineup with familiar faces in new roles, delivering the sharp analysis and compelling discussions that have long been the network’s hallmark.
