Fans all over the world are impatiently waiting for the release of The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift’s upcoming album.
The announcement of the imminent release (the album comes out on April 19th) reminded swifties of Taylor’s previous relationship with Joe Alwyn, as they are sure the album will share some insight in what was a truly surprising breakup.
As readers surely know, Taylor Swift has since moved on and is in a loving relationship with Travis Kelce, but she was with Joe Alwyn for six years, so of course she had to process the relationship ending. She opened up, not long ago, about how she felt while she was writing Folklore, a record that came out while she was still with Joe Alwyn, and fans immediately started speculating.

Although it’s been a while since Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up, fans are still speculating on when and why the relationship ended. A lot of swifties have been putting together the timeline of the breakup based on things the singer has shared, as well as the music she has put out since then or right before the breakup was announced.

Recently, at one of her shows on her Eras tour, Taylor Swift opened up about how lonely she felt while she was making her album Folklore. At the time, she was with Joe Alwyn, and no one suspected anything was wrong.
“[I was] imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair drinking my weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering through the woods with a candle in a candlestick holder,” she explained. “And I wrote only on parchment with a feathered quill. That was in my mind, what I thought I looked like, writing Folklore… So that’s all that matters: the delusion.”
This admission from the singer left fans reeling and rethinking everything they thought they knew about their relationship, which goes to show that, no matter how much a celebrity shares, no one really knows about their private life.
Taylor’s Upcoming Album Might Focus On The Breakup
When she announced it, she said that she’d been working on the album for two years now, and fans immediately started coming up with theories about the types of songs the album would feature.
The title of some of the songs, such as “So Long, London”, led people to believe she would process the breakup with Joe Alwyn on the album, and while she hasn’t specifically confirmed it, she did say not long ago that making the album got her through a tough time.
“Songwriting is something that actually gets me through my life,” she said at a concert in Melbourne, Australia. “I’ve never had an album where I needed songwriting more than I needed it on Tortured Poets.”
After she said that, she played “You’re Losing Me”, a song that is, undeniably, about a relationship ending.
There’s no way to find out until the album actually comes out, but so far, fans seem convinced that what’s coming is a heartbreaking record about love ending.
