MLB: Mexico City Series-Houston Astros at Colorado Rockies
After losing five consecutive games, the Houston Astros have finally ended their losing streak by defeating the Colorado Rockies 12-4 on Saturday. The franchise has won the first game of the Mexico City Series.
In the third inning, Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker hit a 409-foot homer against Cal Quantrill giving the Astros a 4-2 lead against the Rockies.
In an interview after the game, Kyle Tucker addressed his performance and experience playing at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu stadium in Mexico City.
“This is awesome,” Tucker said. “I mean, you can see it right now. The fans are loving it, enjoying it. You know, really front the beginning of the game even BP before fans really came out to support us, Awesome experience.”
“I was just trying to you know put a quality at bat, kind off had a grind there for a while. But I mean, he put together some quality pitches. I was just able to pass him off, until I got something to you know kind of handle and kind of worked out,” he added.
Tucker showed his offensive prowess, going 2-4 with three runs, an RBI and one walk.
“It was awesome. I mean, everyone kinda stepped up and did their thing tonight,” Tucker said while talking about the team’s performance. “Even guys, I mean, Trey Cabbage his first game with us in the show, to be coming off the bench.
“We got a lot of quality at bats just all the way throughout the whole game. So it was really happy with tonight and hope to keep it going.”
Yordan Alvarez’s two homers kept the Astros ahead in the game
The Houston Astros were seen bouncing back from their offensive struggles in Saturday’s game. Yordan Alvarez recorded two homers in the third and ninth innings.
“When we saw the introductions, we knew that it was a moment to think that the season was just beginning for us,” Alvarez said after the game. “We knew that we were struggling, but we trust in the team’s talent.”
Yordan Alvarez went 3 for 5 with two runs and three RBIs.
