The Price Is Right player celebrates after winning car
One lucky Price Is Right player got an awesome and conviently timed birthday gift, walking away with a car after admitting she recently lost hers in an accident.
During an episode of the hit CBS game show last week, player Antoinette excitedly met host Drew Carey and jumped for joy when announcer George Gray revealed she had the chance of winning a 2025 Hyundai Elantra SE if she won a game of Pocket Change.
Antoinette, who wore a birthday sashe as the episode was filmed on her birthday, had just lost her car days earlier.
“I was just in a car accident,” Antoinette could be heard telling Carey. “My car was just totaled.” The 67-year-old host replied, “Well, let’s win this for you.”
However, winning the car by playing Pocket Change wasn’t easy as it required Antoinette to pick the right numbers that made up the retail cost of the Hyundai.
If she picked the wrong number, the “cost” of the car increased by a quarter. Each time she picked the correct number, she got to pick up an envelope from the board.
If the envelopes included the change she needed to “pay” for the car, she would win.
Antoinette managed to get the correct retail price for the Hyundai ($23,715, according to the show), but the “cost” of the car had gone up to $1.25 because she chose a few wrong numbers along the way.
Her envelopes had to contain $1.25 or more for her to win.
As Carey opened the envelopes one by one, Antoinette told the comedian what happened to her car.
She revealed it was totaled just a few weeks before the episode was filmed.
After Carey opened the first three envelopes, Antoinette had only $0.90 and needed that last envelope to push her to winning.
Thankfully, it had $0.75, so she easily won the car with $1.65.
“Go get your new car!” Carey yelled to Antoinette, who rushed to the Hyundai.
Unfortunately, her luck with her game ran out, as she failed to make it to the final Showcase round at the end of the episode.
The Price Is Right posted the great win to their YouTube page and fans took to the comments section to congratulate Antoinette.
One diehard fan wrote, “Well, even though today was another one-model show with Alexis Gaube as the only model, today’s show certainly made up for the last 3 days and the last two weeks as we saw 4 games won today and Antoinette’s win on Pocket Change was the best highlight of the show with her getting one of the cards that said 50 cents and the card that said 75 cents, so way to go, Antoinette!”
The person concluded, “All-in-all, in the end, here’s to hoping that tomorrow’s show goes just as great as today to close out the week, so goodbye!”
Another praised, “Impressive! I am glad she used $.75 cents at the end it was awesome!!! Enjoy the car Antoinette and Happy Birthday!!”
A third commended, “Antoinette, you must be having a great birthday, because you just won a brand new car!”
A fourth added, “So glad she won losing her car in an accident must’ve been awful enjoy your new car Antionette!”
Yet another congratulated, “That wasn’t looking good but that last card pulled through!”
