Cardi B cancels performance after ‘medical emergency,’ alleged swatting incident

The rap star promised fans she’ll “be back better and stronger soon” following a recent hospitalization.

Cardi B is taking some time away from the stage following a recent hospitalization.

The Grammy-winning rapper, 32, revealed the cancellation of her upcoming performance at One Music Fest on her social media pages Wednesday, citing her recovery from an undisclosed “medical emergency.” Cardi was scheduled to perform at the Atlanta festival on Saturday.

“I am so sad to share this news, but I’ve been in the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple of days and I won’t be able to perform at ONE Music Fest,” Cardi wrote.

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Cardi B for additional details on her condition.

“It breaks my heart that I won’t get to see my fans this weekend and I really wish I could be there,” Cardi concluded. “Bardi Gang – thank you for understanding and I’ll be back better and stronger soon. Don’t worry. Love y’all.”

Prior to her hospitalization, Cardi was spotted attending the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Brooklyn, New York, on Oct. 15.

The rapper’s health revelation follows a recent allegation that an anonymous caller allegedly called Child Protective Services to her home.

Cardi B slams ‘prank’ that led to alleged Child Protective Services visit

During an Instagram Live earlier this week, Cardi claimed a prank call was made to Child Protective Services with a complaint that her children were being physically abused. The rapper shares three children – 6-year-old daughter Kulture, 3-year-old son Wave and a daughter born in September – with estranged husband and fellow hip-hop star Offset.

The video was filmed during Cardi’s recent hospitalization, according to footage of the livestream shared on social media. The “Bodak Yellow” emcee, who said her medical stay began Saturday, appeared to be lying down in a hospital bed.

“I swear to you I’m gonna get to the bottom of it,” said Cardi of the alleged incident in which “cops and Child Protective Services” arrived at her home.

“To do a little prank call with Child Protective Services to come to my gated mansion at 11 p.m. while my children are sleeping because there’s an anonymous call that my kids have been getting abused and beaten. … This is when the pranks start getting too far.”

Cardi also slammed the alleged caller for the insensitivity of their CPS outreach, saying her family members are the only people of color “in my neighborhood, completely.”

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Cardi B and Child Protective Services for comment.

Cardi concluded her Instagram Live by vowing to taking legal action against CPS and the individual who made the alleged call.

“Don’t you ever in your … life play with my motherhood or my ex-husband’s fatherhood,” Cardi said. “My kids have never been touched, never gotten hit, no matter how annoying they are. I never hit my kids. … We take very great care of our kids.”
