‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ Makes Big Announcement for Season 3
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Fans will see a familiar face on Celebrity Jeopardy! as Ken Jennings will host season 3 of the Jeopardy! spinoff series.
On Monday, December 16, a selfie of the 50-year-old game show host was posted to both the Celebrity Jeopardy! and regular Jeopardy! Instagram pages confirming he would be back to host season 3. Actress Mayim Bialik hosted the first season of Celebrity Jeopardy! in 2022 before Jennings replaced her for the second season, which premiered in 2023.
Fans took to the comment section to voice their excitement that Jennings would return to his hosting duties.
“He’s a terrific host, very personable, quick with his comments, funny, and, of course, super smart! 🙌👏,” one fan gushed.
“Honestly, the only one who should be the host after Alex [Trebek]. Ken is a class act man,” someone wrote.
Another fan expressed their enthusiasm, writing, “Oh I’m so relieved to hear it’s Ken hosting! Yay!!!”
The announcement comes as Colin Jost began hosting another Jeopardy! spinoff series — Pop Culture Jeopardy!. Some fans were concerned why Jennings wasn’t hosting that iteration of the show, even going as far to speculate that Jost, 42, was trying to take his job as host of the hit game show.
However, in a Tuesday, December 3 interview with The Ringer, the Saturday Night Live cast member put the rumors to rest.
“I promise I am in no way trying to steal his job. He’s very good at his job. I also have a job,” Jost told the outlet.
After Jeopardy! icon Alex Trebek — who had hosted the show since 1984 — passed away in 2020, production tried out a few different people before landing on Jennings to host the beloved game show in 2021. The Massachusetts native famously had his own run as a contestant in 2004.
Celebrity Jeopardy! premieres Wednesday, January 8 at 9/8c on ABC.
