When Blake Shelton first hit the country music scene in the early 2000s, he was rocking a pretty iconic mullet.

But it wasn’t fan pressure that got the former The Voice coach to cut off his outdated look, it was actually being mistaken for another country music star.

As Terri Clark tells it, it was being mistaken for her that got Blake to cut off his hair.

“My best Blake story was CMA Fest, then Fan Fair, at the fairgrounds. They [the fans] were like, ‘Terri, hey Terri.’ This is really bad for me and really bad for him,” she revealed.

Before adding: “Like seriously, people saw me like I look like a football player with a mullet? What the hell, man?”

“And then he immediately cut his hair. He tells the story like that might be one of the reasons that he cut his hair.”

But the comparison was not all bad, according to Terri.

“I take it as a compliment.”

While Blake is not known for his mullet anymore, has brought i back a couple of times.

During the Covid pandemic, he had a short-lived mullet while quarantining with his wife, Gwen Stefani.

She even trimmed it up while he was doing a virtual interview with Jimmy Fallon.
