Another ‘The Voice’ Star Quits Show, Second Shocking Dropout in One Week

Season 26 of The Voice is barreling toward its conclusion, with the second round of the Playoffs airing Monday (Nov. 25.) Soon we’ll learn which artist walked away with the record deal and $100,000 grand prize. Viewers were shocked earlier this month when country star Tanner Frick abruptly exited the show ahead of the three-way Knockout Rounds. Now, fans are getting another surprise as it seems Mor Ilderton has also left voluntarily.

Why Did Mor Ilderton Leave ‘The Voice?’

The Voice coach Gwen Stefani didn’t offer many details about the departure of one of her artists, Mor Ilderton.

“We had Mor, who I stole, but he had to go home, so it’s just gonna be the two of them,” the former No Doubt frontwoman told Mega Mentor Sting as she introduced her team.

With Ilderton’s departure, Sydney Sterlace won the Knockouts Round and advanced directly to the Playoffs. Jan Dan’s journey also continued when Stefani used her Save on them.

Ilderton’s haunting Blind Audition performance of Dylan Gossett’s “Coal” scored chair turns from Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, and Reba McEntire (whom Bublé blocked.) The 20-year-old West Virginia folk artist chose Bublé, but was later stolen by Stefani.

Ilderton dropped a brand-new single, “Stranger,” last Friday (Nov. 22.) He posted multiple videos promoting the song to social media throughout last week, but offered no explanation regarding his exit from The Voice.

Ilderton is the Second Dropout of the Season

Mor Ilderton became the second contestant to drop out of The Voice in a week. Fans were shocked when host Carson Daly announced Tanner Frick’s departure during the Nov. 11 episode.

The 26-year-old country singer from Manchester, Tennessee, earned a four-chair turn with his Blind Audition performance of Morgan Wallen’s “Thought You Should Know.” He joined Reba McEntire’s team, but was later stolen by Michael Bublé after losing to Tate Renner in the Battle Rounds.

After his exit, Frick shared a video of himself singing in a recording booth to social media. Cryptically, he captioned the post, “Ain’t nobody want me anyway…”

The lyric apparently stemmed from Frick’s upcoming song, “Lonesome Road,” which he has been teasing on social media. This has ignited speculation among fans that he left The Voice for a recording contract, but Frick has not confirmed this rumor.
