Angel Reese’s Two-Word Jab at Caitlin Clark Goes Viral

On Sunday, the NBA released a Finals promo featuring WNBA rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.

The Chicago Sky rookies each have some championship pedigree of their own.

Reese led the LSU Tigers to a championship in 2023, and Cardoso helped the South Carolina Gamecocks to victory in this past year’s NCAA Tournament title game.

Both took down Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes en route to their respective championships.

“Tonight we honor basketball’s Kings and Queens,” Queen Latifah said in the promo.

“Champs only!” Reese responded.

 

Many are viewing this as a jab at Clark, who was unable to cut down the nets during her storied college basketball career.

“Oh my!! Shots fired,” one fan wrote.

“There was a little bit of shade with that ‘champs only’ comment,” another said.

 

“Omg Caitlin couldn’t say it lol,” another added.
“YEAH YOU HEARD HER CHAMPS ONLY!!!! NO RING NO GOAT TALK,” another wrote.

Clark and Reese have been competitors for years dating back to their high school AAU days.

While they certainly have a healthy rivalry, they also have a great deal of mutual respect.

Reese and Clark will face off for the first time at the WNBA level when the Fever play the Sky on June 1.
