AL Roker has taken the day off from his hosting and meteorologist duties on the Today show on Monday.

The TV personality, 69, revealed his dog had to undergo emergency surgery over the weekend.

Shortly into the flagship edition of the Today show broadcast, Hoda Kotb revealed Dylan Dreyer was in for Al to give the weather forecast.

As for the Today Third Hour, Al still was nowhere to be found at the anchor desk with the rest of his co-hosts – Dylan, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin.

The day before, the beloved TV personality revealed on Instagram that his family was dealing with an emergency.

Al posted a series of sweet photos of himself and his wife Deborah Roberts holding their dog Pepper.

The meteorologist had the pup wrapped in a blanket and cuddled her in his arms.

Deborah also held Pepper in one photo and played with her on the floor in another – though her shots saw the pup with a cone around her head.

“Our little girl, Pepper had emergency surgery but is on the mend,” Al revealed in the caption. “She’s getting great care and is coming home tomorrow. Woof.”

“You can sleep on our bed as much as you want,” he sweetly added at the end.

Deborah shared similar photos on her own Instagram feed and said she felt “gratitude” and added, “My heart is bursting with it today.”

She explained that Pepper gave them “quite a scare” but survived the operation and is currently recovering.

The Good Morning America star added that their dog is a “strong girl” and asked fans for “any and all prayers.”

Al and Deborah’s followers on social media were more than happy to oblige and send well-wishes Pepper’s way.

“So hard when they are unwell,” wrote one fan. “Hoping she will be ok.”

“Hugs, Treats and Prayers for Pepper,” commented a second fan.

“Prayers being said for your fur baby,” a third follower said.

“Sending healing vibes for your pup, they’re like our children,” another fan wrote to the TV personalities.

Along with their dog recovering from surgery, Deborah revealed on Monday that there was another reason her husband was absent from the Today show.

BUSY COUPLE

The ABC News personality shared that the duo were in Nashville, Tennessee at Fisk University to help give the commencement address.

Deborah posted photos of them on campus, including one of them each holding up a Doctor of Humane Letters certificate, which is an honorary degree.

“Monday mood…pure #joy,” Deborah captioned the post. “How exciting to be on the campus of the historic @fiskuniversity to deliver the 150th commencement address to the class of 2024 along with @alroker.”

“As he said, Two for the price of one,” she continued. “Congratulations Dr. Agenia Clark on your first graduating class as president of this storied campus of higher learning and activism.”

The 20/20 co-anchor finished the caption by referring to herself and Al as “Dr. Roberts and Dr. Roker.”
