Judge Steve Harvey fans slam host for ‘cosplaying’ with ‘ridiculous’ role as contestants play tennis in courtroom
And how Steve leads the comedy-filled judging show without a law degree
STEVE Harvey has been slammed by viewers of his comedy courtroom show, Judge Steve Harvey, for his recent cosplay.
The Family Feud host stars in his own reality show, Judge Steve Harvey, where he gives a third-party opinion on real-life court cases.

Most recently, Steve, 67, had some people thinking he was “cosplaying” another famous TV personality, Judge Judy, 81.
The weekly show, which airs on ABC, was shown on Tuesday night before the Republican National Convention.
As the popular host appeared on viewers’ screens behind the judge’s stand, some people were confused by his newest TV role.
“Because of the rnc jeopardy ain’t on until 10 but it ran long so i’m just sitting here watching steve harvey cosplay as judge judy,” one person wrote on X.
“I must’ve missed this crossover episode when Steve Harvey became Judge Judy,” a second jabbed.
“Since when did Steve Harvey become judge Judy,” a third asked.
Tuesday’s episode featured a case centered on a game of pickleball, showing a net being set up in the middle of the courtroom.
The complainant and defendant then proceeded to hit the ball back and forth, trying to prove the strength of their swings.
“Hell yea, this is the most fun I’ve ever had,” Steve joked as they lobbed the pickleball over the net.
Some viewers were confused by the comedy-driven show and questioned why the game was being played in the courtroom.
“I just caught a glimpse of normie TV, and I feel like I smoked crack,” someone tweeted.
“When did Steve Harvey become a judge, and why are the complainant and defendant playing a match of tennis in the courtroom to decide the outcome?”
WHAT IS JUDGE STEVE HARVEY?
The series is listed as an arbitration-based reality court show with a comedic hook.
It features Steve making rulings after being presented with confirmed cases, despite the comedian not having any law degree or having taken the bar exam.
Instead of a legal proceeding, Judge Steve Harvey shows an arbitration agreement — requiring parties to resolve disputes through binding arbitration.
In this case, the parties agree to abide by Steve’s ruling prior to filming.
Since Steve acts as a neutral third party, he doesn’t have to follow the same legal procedures that take place in a real courtroom.
Speaking to TV Insider, Steve discussed what he could bring to the series with his years of experience leading a television show.
“I knew I had to just be myself. Most judges are interested in the law: These are the facts, and that’s it,” he explained.
“I’m going to dig up the story behind why people came to court vs. what they’re in court for.”
The host noted that he “leans on decades of experience dealing with all types of situations and people,” relying on his “street savvy, common sense, and humor to get it done.”
Along with Judge Steve Harvey and Family Feud, Steve also hosts The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Celebrity Family Feud, and Family Feud Africa.
