The Texas Rangers showed their offensive prowess in the first game of their series against the Los Angeles Angels, securing a resounding 9-4 victory Monday night at Angels Stadium in Anaheim.

Corey Seager kicked off the scoring with a robust two-run homer in the very first inning, setting the tone for the game. Seager, facilitating the Rangers’ dominant display, also hit a double and crossed home plate twice, extending his hitting streak to a remarkable 13 games. He was not alone in his offensive exploits, as Nathaniel Lowe went 3 for 4, and rookie sensation Wyatt Langford contributed a double and a critical two-run homer in the seventh inning, bolstering the Rangers’ lead to 9-3.

Langford’s performance was particularly noteworthy as it continued his impressive run in July, where he has now amassed 10 hits including three doubles and a homer, pushing his average to .273 from a lower .218 since returning from the injury list in late May.

The win marked the Rangers’ fourth consecutive victory, setting them up with the momentum to pursue a season-best fifth straight win in the next game with Max Scheranz slated to start.

This offensive surge has been a theme for the Rangers lately, having scored 22 runs and amassed 31 hits over their last two outings, tying their season record for a two-game stretch—a feat they achieved twice earlier in the year.

Pitcher Jon Gray (4-4) was credited with the win, despite a challenging second inning where he surrendered three runs. However, he managed to maintain control and completed five innings with respectable figures.

From the bullpen, Jose Leclerc and Josh Sborz provided flawless relief, each tossing a scoreless inning to seal the game, with Leclerc striking out two in the eighth and Sborz closing out the ninth.

Looking ahead, the series continues with Scherzer (1-2, 2.70 ERA) taking the mound against Angels’ Roansy Contreras (1-1, 4.04 ERA), who makes his third MLB start. The Rangers aim to leverage their current form and extend their winning streak.
