This time last year, Michael Huntley (who goes by Huntley) was vying for a shot at stardom on season 24 of NBC’s The Voice. Delivering one flawless performance after another, the Virginia blues-rocker eventually took home the crown, beating out teenager Ruby Leigh. Since his stunning victory, the 34-year-old father of two has been hard at work getting his music career off the ground. Recently, Huntley took to social media to tease yet another original single—this one a rollicking tribute to his adopted state.

Hear Huntley Honor His Roots With New Single
Although originally from Spring Hill, Florida, Huntley has lived in Virginia since his teenage years—excluding a brief stint in Nashville, where he tried to make his music dreams come true. After even his efforts proved fruitless, he returned to Virginia with “my tail tucked between my legs.”
Clearly, Huntley’s career has thrived since moving back to his adopted home. So it makes sense that The Voice season 24 champion wanted to pay homage to the Old Dominion State. His newest song, “Skyline Drive,” drops Tuesday (Oct. 29), and Huntley is calling it “my love song to Virginia.”
Taking to Instagram Saturday (Oct. 26), the long-haired blues-rocker shared a video of himself leaning out the window of a moving vehicle as the spectacular fall foliage zooms by. He loudly professes his love for Virginia’s “rolling mountains, beautiful sky, and flowing waters, declaring, My mountain mama saved me.
‘The Voice’ Fans React to New Music: “Amazing!”
Fans flooded Huntley’s Instagram comments after The Voice winner teased new music. Several called the song “amazing” (although they also warned Huntley to watch out for trees.) “Every Huntley-obsessed Mom following you (like me) just yelled “GET BACK IN THE DAMN CAR!! ” at their phones…” one fan wrote.
The song takes its name from the 105-mile national parkway that spans the entire length of Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
