Fox News Star Kat Timpf Reveals Pregnancy with Husband a Decade After Tragic Event—Plus, the Unexpected Surprise That Left Her Stunned

Fox News Personality Kat Timpf Announces Pregnancy a Decade After Tragic Loss—Reveals Her Biggest Shock

Fox News contributor and Gutfeld! panelist Kat Timpf has shared exciting personal news—she is expecting her first child with husband Cameron Friscia. However, the journey to this moment was filled with unexpected realizations, emotional reflections, and the lingering sorrow of a personal loss that still impacts her today.

A Surprising Discovery

Timpf revealed her pregnancy in a heartfelt opinion piece for Fox News, describing how the news initially caught her off guard. She discovered she was pregnant on May 30, a moment that didn’t unfold in the cinematic way she had once imagined.

“In my imagination, I would wake my husband, who would sit up abruptly, look at the test, and be overwhelmed by this life-changing moment, leading us into a passionate embrace that we’d remember for the rest of our lives,” Timpf wrote.

The reality, however, was much more subdued. Her husband struggled to wake up, barely acknowledging the test before rolling back over to sleep. Meanwhile, for Timpf, the realization came gradually as the pregnancy test line grew darker over time.

A High-Risk Pregnancy

At 35, Timpf’s pregnancy is classified as a “geriatric pregnancy” in medical terms, something she never expected to experience naturally. She had mentally prepared herself for difficulties conceiving and even the possibility of miscarriage.

“Once I did, I expected that I’d probably miscarry,” she admitted. “I mean, I am 35, which makes mine a geriatric pregnancy, medically speaking.”

Her cautious approach continued even as the pregnancy progressed. When she and her husband first heard their baby’s heartbeat on June 27—the same day as the presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump—it was an emotional moment, yet still not as overwhelming as she might have predicted.

“It was never this exciting emotional rush of ‘OMG, WE’RE GOING TO BE PARENTS!!!!’” she explained. “Because I was far too aware of all things that could go wrong to become intoxicated by such an impassioned reaction.”

A Decade-Old Heartbreak

Amidst her joy, Timpf couldn’t help but reflect on a painful absence in her life—her mother, who passed away on November 5, 2014. The thought of becoming a mother herself without her own mother’s guidance has been a deeply emotional challenge.

“I feel a sense of unity and solidarity with all the women who have gone through this,” she wrote. “If I’m being honest, though, I also feel sadness about there being one woman in particular whom I’ll never be able to share this connection with: my mom.”

Her sixth month of pregnancy will fall on the exact anniversary of her mother’s passing, a poignant reminder of the passage of time and the milestones her mother never got to witness.

Looking Toward the Future

Despite the bittersweet emotions, Timpf expressed gratitude for the life she has built and the opportunity to bring a child into the world with a supportive partner by her side.

“I’m lucky to be able to do this, and to do it as part of a relationship that has given me the kind of happiness, security, and peace I once doubted could have ever been possible for me,” she wrote.

In preparation for her child’s arrival, Timpf also noted that she has written a book, I Used to Like You Until, which is set to be released in September. She hopes it will impart valuable lessons to her future child about viewing the world through a lens of understanding rather than division—a lesson she credits her late mother for instilling in her.

“What a world I get to tell my kid about. What a decade my mom missed,” she reflected.

As Timpf embarks on this new chapter, she continues to navigate the mix of emotions that come with new life and lingering loss. While the road to motherhood has been unexpected in many ways, it is one she now embraces with cautious optimism and deep gratitude.

Timpf admitted that her positive pregnancy test on May 30 came as a total shock due to her “geriatric” age.

“I never expected to find myself in this situation,” Timpf, 35, wrote.

“Actually, I’d prepared myself for every outcome but this one: First, I expected that I wouldn’t get pregnant, especially not naturally.

“Once I did, I expected that I’d probably miscarry. I mean, I am 35, which makes mine a geriatric pregnancy, medically speaking.”

The Fox News contributor added that learning she was pregnant felt nothing like she had imagined.

“In my imagination, I would wake my husband, who would sit up abruptly, look at the test, and be overwhelmed by this life-changing moment, leading us into a passionate embrace that we’d remember for the rest of our lives,” Timpf said.

“The reality? I had a hard time waking him up, and when I finally did rouse him, he said he couldn’t really see the line and rolled back over to sleep.

“For me, too, it was less of an arresting moment, and more of a slow realization: The line kept getting darker.”

Timpf detailed how she and her husband first heard their baby’s heartbeat on June 27, the day of the presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

“We heard the heartbeat for the first time, and then we heard it again,” Timpf shared.

“It was never this exciting emotional rush of OMG, WE’RE GOING TO BE PARENTS!!!!

“Because I was far too aware of all things that could go wrong to become intoxicated by such an impassioned reaction.

“There was also something else working against the possibility of me experiencing all-encompassing astonishment, and that was, well, I was just too damn tired.”

A downhearted Timpf expressed sorrow about not being able to share the moment with her mother, who died on November 5, 2014.

“I feel a sense of unity and solidarity with all the women who have gone through this,” she wrote.

“If I’m being honest, though, I also feel sadness about there being one woman in particular whom I’ll never be able to share this connection with: my mom.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m very excited to be pregnant. I’m lucky to be able to do this, and to do it as part of a relationship that has given me the kind of happiness, security, and peace I once doubted could have ever seen possible for me.

“Still, it’s felt cruel, at times disorienting, and a bit unfair to have to try and figure out how to be a mother when I can hardly remember what it’s like to have one.”

Timpf shared how November 5, 2024, the anniversary of her mother’s passing, will mark her sixth month of pregnancy.

“What a world I get to tell my kid about. What a decade my mom missed,” she added.

“I’m glad, before the birth of my first, that I wrote a book (‘I Used to Like You Until,’ out in September) telling him or her not to view the world and those who live in it – that is, through a binary lens.

“It’s something my mother also taught me… or, more accurately, showed me.”
