This Sunday gave us a solid performance from Max Scherzer, who pitched five scoreless innings. As we head into September, there’s hope that Scherzer could grace the mound for another start or two.

The roster has seen some movement with Ezequiel Duran being sent down to Round Rock. Filling the vacancy, outfielder Derek Hill has been called up and is set to put some pressure on Leody Taveras for the center field position—the proverbial sword of Damocles hanging over Taveras’ head.

In injury news, Josh Jung’s recovery from wrist surgery appears to be on track. Despite some persistent pain, the structural integrity of his wrist is solid, a discomfort Jung will have to manage as he continues to play.

Chris Young has recently commented on the team’s performance, noting that now would be the perfect moment to kick things into high gear if the playoffs are in sight. The urgency is palpable as the team aims for a postseason berth.

Unfortunately, the team’s recent burst of offensive prowess was overshadowed by a grand slam and several defensive missteps in yesterday’s game. A reminder that every element of the game needs to be in sync for success.
