Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink is already proving that she fits in with the biggest sports stars of LA, as her interaction with Shohei Ohtani before a Dodgers game drew out a side of the Japanese star that MLB fans do not often see.

Shohei Ohtani meets Cameron Brink

Brink attended the Los Angeles Dodgers game with fellow Sparks rookie Rickea Jackson.

They both threw out what turned out to be an unceremonious first pitch, but it was Brink’s interaction with Ohtani in the clubhouse that ended up on the front pages.

As the two Los Angeles giants met for the first time, Shohei seemed taken aback by the aura of the 6-foot-4 forward.

His cheeks got a little flushed as he giggled, “you’re so tall!” Despite often using a translator, he seemed comfortable speaking English in his conversation with the friendly WNBA star.

Brink makes stars feel comfortable

It came on the same day that Brink revealed on Paul George’s podcast that during a video shoot with New Balance, she was able to make the famously non-emotive LA Clippers all-star Kawhi Leonard laugh more than anyone they had ever seen.

Her energy and presence seems to bring the best out of others on and off the court, even leaving a mark on the biggest names in a city full of stars.

In her first two games with the Sparks, she has racked up 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks.

Ohtani’s wife lived Brink’s dream

Of course, Ohtani has his eyes fixed on his own lady hooper, Mamiko Tanaka. His wife played professional basketball in Japan and represented the nation at the Under-16 through Under-18 level internationally.

Brink was impressed by Tanaka’s international career and told Ohtani that she is praying to go to the 2024 Paris Olympics with USA Basketball. Ohtani said that his wife wanted to meet the Sparks rookie and would definitely come to one of her games soon.
