Ken Jennings revealed a difficult question for the final round, which featured in a video clip uploaded to YouTube after the show aired.

“The decisive Jeopardy! clue in this close game will concern historic people,” Ken said to introduce the answer.

“An island near Cebu City has a statue of LapuLapu and a monument to this man that LapuLapu is said to have killed in 1521,” he read.

At the beginning of the final round, Adriana was leading with $14,400, while Josh was second with $12,200.

Amy was third with a total of $6,200 which she took down to $3,700 after she gambled with the incorrect answer, Atilla The Hun.

Josh also suffered a blow after he wrote down Captain Cook, which reduced his final total to $9,999.

Finally Ken revealed Adriana’s answer to realize she had a lucky escape.

The game show star had written Captain Cook but crossed it out and wrote the correct answer, Magellen.

“She wrote down Cook but at the last minute she changed it to Magellen,” Ken told the studio.

“And that is correct, Cebu City in the Philippines.

“So you’re going to add $11,000, taking you to $25,400 on the day,” Ken finished.

Adriana smiled at her big win which left her miles ahead of the other two contestants.

FAN LOVE

Fans flooded the comment section with relief at Adriana’s close call.

“It’s so satisfying to watch players initially write down an incorrect response, then go back and write the correct response. Like ‘whew, they [the player] got that right!'” wrote one relieved follower.

“That was a good change on her part to maintain her winning streak,” added another.

“I hope she keeps it going on Monday!” said a third.

Prior to Friday’s episode, Adriana earned her second win on Thursday, totaling $46,200.

KEN’S COMMENTS

Thursday’s episode also featured a feisty moment from Ken when dealing with a music-related question.

Adriana appeared against Brad Miller and Sandee and Ken appeared to slam the others.

In Double Jeopardy! the Third Eye Blind clue read, “This ordinal band sang about a ‘semi-charmed kind of life’ in a song with a lot of doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doos.”

Jeopardy! Host Timeline

Jeopardy! has had a tumultuous history regarding hosts after the death of the iconic Alex Trebek in 2020. Here are all of the hosts since the game show’s inception in 1964.

Art Fleming – 1964 to 1975, he was the original host of the daytime version of Jeopardy! on NBC.

Alex Trebek – 1984 to 2020, the late, great Alex hosted Jeopardy!’s modern iteration for 36 years until his death from pancreatic cancer.

Guest hosts – 2020 to 2021, Jeopardy! tested out a series of guest hosts for week or two-week stints, including Anderson Cooper, LaVar Burton, and Aaron Rodgers.

Mike Richards – 2021, he was named host for one week before resigning amid controversy. He was the show’s executive producer at the time.

Mayim Bialik – 2021 to 2023, when Mike was announced as the show’s new host, Mayim was chosen to host tournaments and primetime specials.

Mayim and Ken Jennings – 2022 to 2023, 74-time champion Ken (the longest-winning contestant ever) joined Mayim as a guest host and they split hosting duties.

Ken Jennings – 2023 to present. Last December, Mayim announced on Instagram that she would “no longer” host Jeopardy! after a lengthy hiatus, having stood with the writer’s strike, and Ken was named sole host.

Ken now helms all editions of Jeopardy! including Celebrity Jeopardy!, the nightly show, and other primetime specials like Masters.

Brad incorrectly guessed, “Three Doors Down,” to which Ken bluntly responded, “No!”

Sandee then buzzed with a made-up band, “Third Day,” to which Ken answered, “Also incorrect.”

Adriana finally provided the correct answer, as Ken assured her, “You got there, yes.”
