đ¨ Anthony Joshuaâs expected rematch with Daniel Dubois in doubt
Anthony Joshuaâs expected rematch with Daniel Dubois in February could fall through.
IBF champion Dubois defended his belt in style knocking out Joshua at a packed Wembley Stadium last month.
Both fighters had suggested that a rematch was on the cards with a February date pencilled in.
Joshuaâs promoter Eddie Hearn has now said that the quick turnaround could be a problem for âAJâ.
Our concern at the moment is just timing,â Hearn told Sky Sports. âYouâve got a few little niggles, you get them looked at and then you canât punch again for four, five weeks. If weâre going to fight him in February, we need to start camp in about three weeksâ time. Itâs quite a fast turnaround.â
He continued: âIdeally weâd like to return around May time. It does feel as though itâs coming on quite quickly
âFrom a body perspective we could probably do with a little bit more time ideally. Sometimes itâs not ideal and you just go for it. But we just need to decide are we going to be ready.
â[Joshua] has told me categorically: âI want the rematch.â But itâs just a case of whether heâs going to be ready for February and thatâs something theyâre going to have to decide.
âItâs not ruled out. But we do appreciate itâs a fast turnaround.â
Duboisâ promoter Frank Warren isnât convinced they want the rematch and is adamant the fight can only take place in early 2025.
He said: âWhoâd you advise him to fight? He is the champion and itâll be done in his terms
