Family Feud’s Steve Harvey ‘knows not to cross the line’ with raunchy questions as his reactions are made ‘on the spot’
Including a survey answer that disgusted viewers
FAMILY Feud’s Steve Harvey has been hosting the beloved game show since 2010 – and he knows what he’s doing, an insider revealed.
A source close to Family Feud exclusively told The U.S. Sun how Steve, 67, handles those NSFW questions on air.

“Family Feud is one of the small handful of game shows whose rerun episodes pull as many eyeballs as original shows do, and in the world of free-to-watch TV, that’s a license to print money,” the insider dished.
“Plus, the format has been translated to dozens of countries around the world and those hosts also know how to make the show into a wild experience.
“It’s all part of the package,” the source revealed.
They explained how Steve’s antics “aren’t calculated” and that he improvises his reactions when given a funny response from a contestant or a survey question.
‘STEVE IS FEARLESS’
The insider continued, “He comes up with a lot of that stuff on the spot – but he’s playing to an audience he knows and trusts.
“The facial expressions, double entendres, and even the way he delivers the questions are designed to make you laugh and cringe like it’s 1 am at the local comedy club.
“Steve knows exactly what he’s doing and you don’t hire Steve and keep renewing his contract just to reign the guy in or try to censor him.
“Comedy writers love Steve because he’s fearless and the writers on that show in particular lean into the raunchy stuff because, for some of them, it’s their first ever chance to write for a veteran, household name comedian.
“You don’t let an opportunity like that go to waste!”
FREAKY FEUD
Steve is met with shocking responses and survey questions quite frequently.
On July 9’s episode, Steve asked, “Name something a delivery boy might do to your pizza if you never tip him.”
Several answers were already shown on the board including “Spit on/lick it,” “Drop it,” and “Eat it” – responses that can seem very NSFW when taken out of context.
After none of the contestants could get the rest of the answers, it was revealed that “fart on it” was a response.
“Wow,” Steve said.
More about Steve Harvey
Steve Harvey was born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia. He is the host of Family Feud, The Steve Harvey Morning Show, and comedy court series Judge Steve Harvey.
THEY’VE HAD ENOUGH
In April, viewers at home were left disgusted after Steve asked two contestants, “Name something a married couple might do together at home in the nude.”
One player said, “Make love,” which was the number one answer calling it “BBQ the bratwurst.”
After the scene was shared on the show’s official Instagram page, fans had a lot to say.
“Such Much for a Show being Called ‘Family’ Feud,” one said.
Another added, “These questions are ridiculous.”

A third said, “Family feud is getting kind of raunchy.”
Other survey responses which received NSFW responses include:
“Name something you stuck your finger in more times than you can count”
“Name a tool that a handyman might nickname his package”
“Name something you like soft but firm”
‘HE CAN HANDLE THAT STUFF’
Even though some Family Feud watchers don’t like the NSFW questions, a TV broadcast insider recently revealed to The U.S. Sun that they are no accident.
“In the last few years, there’s been this uptick in risqué or even sexual questions, but the producers know that Steve can handle that stuff and walk right up to the line without crossing it.
“It’s just part of the tradition of the show going all the way back to Richard Dawson’s years as host.”
Richard Dawson hosted Family Feud from 1976 to 1985 then returned in 1994 to 1995.
“He might freak out Middle America sometimes, but within the Hollywood community, he is a treasured veteran, and he makes the job look easy when everybody in the TV business knows it absolutely isn’t.”
