Jake Paul continues his boxing campaign this November with his most high-profile and controversial bout to date – an eight rounder against former undisputed heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson.

The YouTuber-turned-fighter entered the sport via the crossover scene, first fighting another internet personality before a retired NBA star. He then started on what would be his bread and butter – former UFC fighters.

The 27-year-old beat Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. In the middle of those he did face some more traditional boxers, beating Andre August and Ryan Bourland but falling short against Tommy Fury.

The younger brother of Tyson beat Paul in February of 2023 out in Saudi Arabia. It remains Paul’s sole loss during his boxing effort. Fury survived a late knockdown to win via split decision, largely banking rounds through fundamentals against Paul’s more novice approach.

Post-fight, he was asked about the power of the American – something that has been praised for by many in the sport whom he has trained with, and a key factor in why the upcoming Tyson bout has been criticised. Fury, however, wasn’t impressed, telling Fight Hub TV that he had been hit much harder.

“It wasn’t… I’ve been around this job my whole life, I’ve sparred a lot of people, been in the ring sparring some real punchers. His power wasn’t anything that was worrying me at all. That’s why I had my hands down, I wasn’t really that bothered. That’s it really. He’s a good strong lad but he’s not the hardest hitter that I’ve ever fought.”

Fury’s record consists of mostly journeymen and one or two green prospects. Tyson, though forced to postpone the initial fight date due to a medical issue, doesn’t seem worried either, confident that he can end the career of Paul.
