‘He Knows It’ Retired Heavyweight Champion Claims He’ll ‘Devour Tyson Fury For Breakfast

In an extraordinary career, Tyson Fury has faced many challenges, but he has only suffered a single defeat in his professional boxing journey. This loss came in May when Fury stepped into the ring against Oleksandr Usyk to contest all four major world titles. This highly anticipated match marked the first undisputed fight in almost 25 years, ending in a narrow decision that did not favor Fury after an intense 12-round battle.

As the year draws to a close, Fury has the opportunity to avenge this defeat in December. Following the initial bout, Fury expressed how much he enjoyed the experience, acknowledging that he would make improvements ahead of their rematch. Despite facing criticism regarding the mixed messages from his corner during the latter rounds of the first fight, he has confirmed his decision to retain the same team for this upcoming challenge.

Despite Fury’s undeniable talent and status as one of the premier fighters of his generation, some boxing legends express skepticism regarding his place in the pantheon of all-time greats. Former world champion Frank Bruno has voiced his opinion on this matter, asserting that Fury would not have thrived in the fiercely competitive era of the 1980s and 1990s. In an interview with DAZN, Bruno stated, “I wish Tyson the best, but he knows deep down in his heart that if he was around in the days that I was younger, I would eat him for dinner and breakfast as well.” He emphasized that Fury’s achievements, while impressive, exist in a vastly different context than those of past champions.

Bruno’s era bore witness to legendary fighters like Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson, both of whom he faced in the ring. In a surprising revelation, Bruno credited fellow champion James “Bonecrusher” Smith with having a harder punch than either Lewis or Tyson, illustrating the fierce competition that characterized his time as a heavyweight.

As Tyson Fury prepares for his next fight, the boxing community eagerly anticipates whether he can reclaim his position at the top and further solidify his legacy. The upcoming rematch promises to be a compelling chapter in a career that has already made an indelible mark on the sport.
