“Time for you to quit!” Billionaire Mark Cuban ‘TIRED OF’ LeBron James’ longevity

Mark Cuban and LeBron James

Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban believes it’s time for LeBron James to quit basketball. And for good reasons, it seems. Cuban and James have been involved in many wars over the years, with Cuban’s Mavericks being one of James’ biggest rivals.

In the same spirit, the billionaire thinks it’s time for the 39-year-old James to call it a day. In a lighthearted interview with TMZ Sports, Mark Cuban spoke about LeBron playing with his son Bronny James as he enters his 22nd NBA season.

During the interview, Cuban jokingly remarked that it is time for the Lakers forward to retire from the NBA because the Mavericks owner is ‘tired’ of the ageless wonder.

LeBron it’s time for you to quit, I’m tired of you… because he’s still so good you know. He’s on the Lakers our rival, so it’s time to retire LeBron.

Mark Cuban remarked (via yardbreaker)

While Cuban made these comments with no ill intentions, there is perhaps a hint of truth behind them. Entering his 22nd NBA season, James is still one of the most dominant forces in the league. The 20x All-Star finished the season averaging elite numbers, with 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds in 71 games in the 2023-24 NBA season.

Cuban, of course, has seen this prolonged dominance better than almost anyone. His Mavericks denied LeBron James his first NBA title in 2011, defeating the Miami Heat to hoist the Larry O’Brien. Since then, the two have maintained a close relationship, even considering the idea of partnering up for off-court business.

Mark Cuban hints at partnership with LeBron

In a recent interview with Shaquille O’Neal on ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq,’ Mark Cuban hinted at the possibility of owning an NBA team alongside Shaq and LeBron. After selling off a majority stake in the Mavericks last year, Cuban revealed that he remains open to the idea of owning an NBA franchise down the line.

Cuban told Shaq that he would consider ‘making a comeback’ to ownership if the deal included partnering up with Shaq and LeBron. James has also made his intentions to eventually open and run a Las Vegas-based NBA franchise very clear.

Connecting these dots, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the duo of Cuban and LeBron owning an NBA franchise together.
