Beyoncé officially endorses Kamala Harris at Houston rally: ‘We must vote and we need you’

Beyoncé was back in H-town to support Vice President Kamala Harris.

The “Drunk In Love” singer, 43, officially endorsed Harris at her presidential campaign rally in Houston on Friday evening while standing onstage with her former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland.

After being introduced by her mother, Tina Knowles, the mom of three took a moment to address the audience, telling them, “We are at the precipice of an enormous shift.”

“I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother, a mother who cares about the world our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we are not divided, our past or present or future,” she said.

“We’re all part of something much bigger. We must vote and we need you,” she continued. “Let’s do this. Ladies and gentlemen, give a big, loud Texas welcome to the next president of the United States, Kamala Harris.”

Harris then took the stage and gave a speech that focused on reproductive rights.

Beyoncé was previously believed to be performing at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago back in August. However, her longtime publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told the Hollywood Reporter that the 32-time Grammy winner was “never scheduled to be there.”

Despite the rumors, the “Cuff It” singer made it known that she was in support of Harris and her policies when she allowed the former prosecutor, 60, to use her 2016 Kendrick Lamar-assisted track “Freedom” as her walk-out song for her rallies.

A source told CNN in July that Harris’ team contacted Queen Bey’s reps to seek approval for the song usage during her first official visit to her campaign’s headquarters.

The pop star, who rarely allows her music to be used outside of her own ventures, gave the Democratic presidential nominee the OK for the Wilmington, Del., appearance.

Beyoncé has not been one to shy away from politics.

During the 2012 election, she endorsed former president Barack Obama and even sang the national anthem at his inauguration the next year.

In 2016, the “Cowboy Carter” songstress and her husband, Jay-Z, performed at a star-studded rally for former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

And in November 2020, Beyoncé made a last-minute endorsement for President Joe Biden, posting a Boomerang clip of herself wearing a Biden-Harris mask and an “I voted” sticker placed atop her Balmain hat.

Two years later, the Cécred founder sang about voting Donald Trump, who was the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, out of office on her hit song “Energy.”

“Just vibe / Votin’ out forty-five / Don’t get outta line (yeah) / Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh / Pick a side,” she sang on the 2020 track off her No. 1 album “Renaissance.”
