The 11th official day of competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics saw the USA make a strong push to reclaim the top spot from China in the medal standings.

Yesterday (August 6), the American team added four gold medals thanks to Cole Hocker, Gabby Thomas (athletics), Caroline Marks (surfing), and Amit Elor (wrestling).

With these achievements, the USA currently leads the medal table with 24 gold medals, 31 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals.

In contrast, Team China managed to secure only one gold medal yesterday, brought in by diver Quan Hongchan. They now stand in second place with 22 gold medals, 21 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals.

At this point in the Paris 2024 Olympics, the competition seems to be a two-horse race between the USA and China as the games head into their final days. Rounding out the top ten are Australia, France, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.

On August 6, both the Philippines and Thailand earned an additional bronze medal in boxing, boosting their overall achievements at Paris 2024. So far, 76 nations have won medals at the 2024 Olympics, with 48 of those countries having won gold.
