Angel Reese revealed a new nickname before the Chicago Sky tipped off against the Washington Mystics on Thursday night.

The former Lousiana State University forward flipped a new chapter in her basketball career after being drafted as the No.7 overall pick earlier this year, but she’s made it known several times that she’s remained true to her roots.

The rookie was born and raised in Randallstown, Maryland, approximately 30 minutes from Baltimore. She played at the University of Maryland for two years before transferring to LSU.

There were rumors that Reese might be drafted by the Mystics, the closest WNBA team to her hometown ahead of selection night. She ended up with the Sky, who are playing Washington this Thursday.

So the trip was somewhat of a homecoming for the two-time First-Team All-American and 2024 SEC Player of the Year.

Angel Reese celebrated with new shoes and a fresh nickname this week.

She showed the shoes off to reporters before Thursday’s clash.

“We’ve been doing so many kinds of different looks. We’ve done like a Barbie kind of thing,” she explained.

“These are Baltimore Barbie shoes,” she added. “I wanted something for home.”

So “Baltimore Barbie” it is.

Reese had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists early in the third quarter, with the Sky trailing the Mystics 35-46.

Chicago started the contest with a 3-5 record, which they hope to improve. They have less than a half of basketball to do that tonight.
