SELENA Gomez has been nominated for her first Emmy Award for her acting role in Only Murders in the Building, and some fans are divided.

The actress was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Mabel Mora in Season 3 of the Hulu series.

The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were revealed on Wednesday.

Only Murders in the Building, which premiered on the streaming platform in 2021, also stars Martin Short, 74, and Steve Martin, 78.

After Selena, 31, was listed as one of the nominees for her performance in the series, fans immediately shared their divided reactions on social media.

The Hollywood star previously landed two Emmy Awards nominations for her role as a producer on the series.

Some people were shocked, with one person asking, “Selena Gomez scored an Emmy nomination??” alongside a GIF of a confused influencer.

Others believed the Disney Channel star was deserving of the honor.

“Finally! Selena Gomez earns her first acting #Emmy nomination — an honor way overdue. She is the heart and soul of ‘Only Murders in the Building.’ This shoulda happened 3 seasons ago,” a second wrote.

“It took three seasons of Only Murders in the Building for Selena Gomez to finally score a Comedy Actress nomination at the #Emmys,” a third noted.

Someone else, however, wrote that “the selena nomination is the biggest proof that emmy’s a chop this year.”

Following Wednesday’s announcement, Selena reshared an article about her acting nomination on Instagram with a crying face emoji.

Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefey, expressed her excitement over her daughter’s achievement by sharing a sweet sentiment on her Instagram Stories.

Mandy reshared the same article, adding, “MOM TEARS!!!! I have no words to describe how she amazes me every day!! XO.”

Selena’s boyfriend, Benny Blanco, 36, also shared the nomination news on his Instagram Stories.

Selena began dating the record producer sometime last year, with the two hard launching their relationship on Instagram in December.

The two have since continued to gush over their relationship in interviews and on social media.

Along with Selena, other nominees in the category included Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, Ayo Edebiri for The Bear, Maya Rudolph for Loot, Jean Smart for Hacks, and Kristin Wiig for Palm Royale.

However, this wasn’t Selena’s first recognition for her recent work this year.

The nomination comes after Selena won Best Actress at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Selena won for her turn in the musical comedy Emilia Pérez, historically sharing the award with fellow castmates Zoe Saldaña, Adriana Paz, and Karla Sofía Gascón.

The French film, directed by filmmaker Jacques Audiard, also took home the festival’s jury prize.
