Not Taylor Swift, this is the richest artist in the world with 140 trillion

On April 4, Forbes magazine published a list of the world’s richest billionaires. In the list of figures in the entertainment and sports industry, director George Lucas is recognized as the leader with a net worth of up to 5.6 billion USD (about 140 trillion VND). The money he earns mainly comes from making movies. The 79-year-old star has 10 film works in the top 100 most popular works in the North American market of all time (inflation factor calculated). In 1971, George Lucas opened the film production company LucasFilm to directly manage his projects. In 2012, the director decided to sell this unit to giant The Walt Disney for more than 4 billion USD. In addition, George Lucas also founded and operated a number of film effects and video game companies.

The director became a USD billionaire in 1997 after a series of successful works. In his youth, George Lucas dreamed of becoming a race car athlete. He turned to studying film after a serious car accident, nearly killing him. After graduating, the director spent many years releasing his first film THX 1138 (1971) but it failed in terms of sales. His next project, American Graffiti (1973), unexpectedly won big, earning more than 200 million USD from a capital of only 777,000 USD.
