It seems the stars had aligned for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce before they started dating last summer.
The “Cruel Summer” singer, 34, apparently had her eye on the Chiefs tight end, also 34, long before their whirlwind romance dominated sports and pop culture in the 2023 NFL season, according to the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy, whose videos are featured on “Saturday Night Live.”
During a recent appearance on the “Work It Out” podcast with comedian Mike Birbiglia, the group — which consists of Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy — discussed their mutual ties to Swift and Kelce, with Marshall explaining that the pop star revealed she enjoyed the three-time Super Bowl champion’s “SNL” episode, which aired in March 2023.

“You can cut this out if you don’t want me to say this,” Marshall said after mentioning the group has worked with both Kelce and Swift prior to their relationship. “She… should I say it? She kind of told us that she watched his ‘SNL’ episode and saw him in our video and was like, ‘Oh this guy seems funny.’
“So like, a little bit, brought them together and we were like thinking about maybe saying that on [‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy’] Fallon and then we were like, I think that if then they ever break up we will somehow be pinned as causing this disaster.

“It’s just a very precarious situation. People have such strong feelings.”
Kelce appeared in a Please Don’t Destroy sketch when he hosted “SNL” last year — weeks removed from the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 2022 win over the Eagles — while Swift also teamed up with the group and Pete Davidson for the 2021 video “Three Sad Virgins.”
Both Kelce and Swift made surprise cameos on “SNL” this past October — when they went public with their relationship holding hands en route to the show’s afterparty in New York.
Swift appeared on the show to introduce the musical guest, rapper Ice Spice, her good friend, while Kelce’s cameo came at the end of a sketch about the couple’s polarizing romance.
