If there is a Hollywood-worthy friendship story in the NFL, it is the one between Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. The dynamic duo of the Kansas City Chiefs has not only combined to give the team three Super Bowl victories, but they also support each other at all times, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to play together.

The bond between Kelce and Mahomes is no secret, even off the field. The Chiefs stars often share family moments and travel together. For instance, they took a quick trip to Argentina in the middle of the regular season, to support Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, in one of her concerts.

Shows of support are abundant in their multiple interviews and on social media. For example, in the most recent episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, Kelce expressed his gratitude for playing with Mahomes.

The true MVP of SB LVIII

In that conversation with hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan, the Chiefs tight end recalled the rollercoaster of emotions that was Super Bowl LVIII, where the Chiefs secured a dramatic overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers, 25-22.

In that game, Mahomes carried the team in the final moments, orchestrating two incredible offensive series: one to tie the score in the closing minutes of regulation and another to clinch the victory in overtime.

“Thank God I play with Patty Mahomes, man. He was the difference late in the game,” Kelce exclaimed, remembering how Mahomes took command of the team to lead them to another victory. “He can just take over a game at the end like that when you know your team needs it the most.”

Kelce’s friendship with George Kittle

During the podcast, Kelce also talked about his friendly rivalry with 49ers’ tight end George Kittle. Despite being fierce competitors on the field, both players share a strong friendship off the gridiron.

Regarding Kittle’s role in that Super BowlKelce regretted that Kittle didn’t have the opportunity to shine more. “I wish he would have had more opportunities to make plays,” Travis said, recalling that “Stone Cold” George had to leave the game in overtime after suffering an injury.

Currently, the two players have embarked on an adventure only they could accomplish by creating Tight End University. This unique school is dedicated to training the next generation of tight ends.

In their most recent event, they brought together more than 70 players, including tight ends and quarterbacks, eager to learn and lead the evolution of the game.
