Rodgers

A recent survey has revealed that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is seen as the most irritating NFL player off the field, according to the opinions of American football fans. The survey, commissioned by The Action Network and conducted by Research Without Barriers (RWB) from July 31 to August 5, 2024, collected responses from over 3,000 NFL fans.

While the survey covered a range of topics, including which fan bases are the most annoying, the most striking result was the answer to this question: “Which NFL player do you find the most annoying off of the field?”

Rodgers dominated the poll, with 27 percent of respondents choosing him. Trailing behind were Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who was selected by 17 percent of fans, and Odell Beckham Jr., with 10 percent. Rounding out the top five were quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes (eight percent) and Dak Prescott (five percent).

The least favorite player off the field

One interesting aspect of the results is how widespread the sentiment is: fans of 24 of the 32 NFL teams named Rodgers as their least favorite player off the field.

Chicago Bears fans, in particular, held this view strongly, with 43 percent of them singling out Rodgers-a likely result of his long history of dominating their team and reveling in those victories.

The players deemed “annoying” by fans also happen to be some of the best at their respective positions. It seems that stars, not lesser-known players or those in less glamorous roles, tend to spark the most frustration among the public.

Kelce’s rise to the second spot could be attributed to the increased media coverage surrounding his relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift. Frequent shots of Swift in the stands at Chiefs games might have contributed to the perception that he’s overexposed off the field.

Rodgers, on the other hand, presents a more complicated case. His persona, while respected by many teammates, has alienated a segment of fans. Over the years, his off-field actions and statements have drawn a fair amount of attention-and controversy.

From his public back-and-forth on whether he would retire or return to the Packers, to his stance on COVID-19 vaccination and his admission of using psychedelics, Rodgers has sparked debate across a wide range of issues.
