In a hilarious incident on Tuesday, Minnesota Twins star Byron Buxton narrowly escaped from getting knocked out. The center field who was standing out of the dugout almost got caught in the Milwaukee Brewers sausage race at the American Family Field.
For the unversed, the sausage race is one of the tradition in Milwaukee where sausage mascots race each other before the sixth inning in every home game of the Brewers. Perhaps Buxton was someone who was not familiar with this event.
The 30-year-old realized way too late that he was standing in harm’s way. Fortunately, his quick reflexes allowed him to dodge the sausage just in time.
After the game, he and Ryan Jeffers opened up about the moment in the clubhouse. The catcher would claim it would have been a good story if Buxton got “run over” by a bratwurst.
I think it would’ve been great if he got run over by the bratwurst. It would’ve been a way better story.

Jeffers would later pause for a moment and take another hilarious swipe at his teammate saying he hoped that the bratwurst was “OK“, leading to a cynical response from Buxton.
The bratwurst? What about me? That was a train collision because if I took one (sausage) out, I’m taking out at least two more.
Byron Buxton responded to Ryan Jeffers.
Fans react to Byron Buxton’s near escape
While Byron Buxton may have nearly escaped a huge collision, the footage of the incident would soon go viral on the internet. The MLB fans on social media have since thrown in several hilarious reactions.

Most of the fans would take a dig at his injury record and said he would have got seriously injured with that collision. One fan jokingly wrote that this mishap could have resulted in him missing the entire 2024 campaign.

Speaking of the game, the Minnesota Twins were 3-1 down when this incident took place. They were able to pull another run as Christian Vasquez hit a sacrifice fly on bases loaded in the seventh inning. However, the Milwaukee Brewers held on to their lead and won the game 3-2.
As for Buxton, so far he is 4-for-14 in the season with three RBIs. He missed two months of action in 2023 due to a hamstring injury. He would return to the team lineup in October but had only one at-bat in the division series loss against the Astros. Twins fans are keeping their fingers crossed for him and hoping he can go one full season without getting injured.
