On Sunday as the New York Yankees took to the field against the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, the main spotlight was on Trevor Bauer. The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher made his second appearance of his offseason against an MLB team and once again showed off his pitching prowess.

Trevor Bauer had earlier announced this past week that he had signed with the Mexican side and would take part in at least five matches. He also claimed that this would help him stay fresh and be ready to start pitching if any MLB team signs him.

Whether teams will sign him or not remains to be seen, his performance in this game has certainly laid out a strong point. The 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner dominated the proceedings against an alternate Yankee lineup.

In his first start for the Mexican side, he would go on to pitch three scoreless innings while giving up four hits and two walks. He even picked up two huge strikeouts in Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton while leaving the Yankee rookie swinging on a nasty slider that got him out of the jam in the second inning.

This performance from Bauer laid down the foundation for the team. The Mexican side ended up winning the game 4-3 as former Yankees star Robinson Cano, at the age of 41, went 3-for-4 with a home run, a single and a double.

Trevor Bauer shares one-word message following outing against NY Yankees

After pitching three innings against the New York Yankees, Trevor Bauer was done for the day. He would leave the mound with his team in a commanding position after his dominating performance. The 33-year-old pitcher would share a one-word message on social media.

Following his outing, he would take to his X account to type out “Lol“. The ex-MLB pitcher did not give any context to his tweet. Since then the fans on social media have been trying to figure out the meaning of this message.

After the game, Bauer said his command was a bit off but labeled it a good day for him and hailed the fans as “incredible” who attended the game in huge numbers.

My command was a little bit off. I would have liked not to walk two people. It was my first time pitching at this altitude, so the ball is moving a little bit differently. But it was a good day. The fans were incredible.

Despite this showing, the question remains the same: whether any team will actually sign him. If no MLB team comes forward, the pitcher could extend his stay with the Mexican team or sign with any other team in Japan where he enjoyed success last season.
