The Tampa Bay Rays obliterated the Blue Jays on Saturday 5-1 after a scuffle between Jose Caballero and Genesis Cabrera cleared the benches for both teams, becoming the first of the 2024 season.

Benches were cleared in 8th inning between the Rays and the Blue Jays

Benches were cleared during the game in the 8th inning when Randy Arozarena hit a single to right field and also stole two bases, this happened in just a couple of minutes. Two outs later it was time for José Caballero to take his turn and although Tampa was winning the situation escalated in the 8 after an error.

Caballero took a big swing and sent the ball to 3rd base and what could have been an easy play, when Justin Turner sent the ball to 1st base, however, in a terrible error, the 1st baseman did not catch it, it had to be right fielder George Springer who sent it to 3rd base again to finally send Caballero to the dugout, not before a clash between Caballero and Genesis Cabrera went further.

Caballero ran toward 3rd base guarded by Bo Bichette at full speed to land safely, however, all his efforts were useless as the throw from Springer was quicker, and he was out, however, he failed to stop on time and hit Genesis Cabrera with his body, it only took a few words for the fight to begin.

It only took a push from Cabrera to Caballero and both dugouts were on the field to stop the fight that only lasted for a few minutes.

On the other hand, Randy Arozarena had a great run during the game and is already considered as being among the leaders of the American League in several batting statistics.

Arozarena has had a good performance and in his third game, he hit his first home run of the campaign against Yusei Kikuchi in the Rays’ 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Arozarena’s solo homer in the fifth inning made the score 2-0 to put his team on track at Tropicana Field. In the 2024 opener, Randy Arozarena hit .364 thanks to his four hits in 11 innings, with two runs produced and three runs scored.
