Tim Welch has been the coach of current UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley for a while now. He recently revealed that he has been giving private lessons to one of the big shots in American baseball, Evan Longoria. Here is what happened:

Sean O’Malley‘s coach Tim Welch recently sat down with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. He revealed that he recently gave private lessons to one of the big names in baseball.

I actually gave a private to a guy named Evan Longoria, I don't know if you know him. Yesterday he contacted me to get some Jiu-Jitsu and he had his first Jiu-Jitsu lesson and he did really good.

Helwani was amazed by the reveal and said that it was quite the name-drop. Welch replied that he had not realized how big of a star Longoria was till he posted an Instagram story of him. Helwani told him that Longoria was one of the all-time great third basemen. Longoria is currently a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tampa Bay Rays, the San Francisco Giants, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He is also a three-time Gold Glove Award winner and a Silver Slugger Award winner.

Welch revealed that Longoria lives about 30 minutes away from him and is a nice guy. The baseball player was supposedly pretty open-minded and was not afraid to get beat up a little bit. According to Welch Evan Longoria is pretty excited to learn Jiu-Jitsu. He will be taking classes twice a week for now and Welch will eventually put him in with some of the amateurs.

How was Conor McGregor’s first-ever baseball pitch?

Celebrities have a tradition of throwing their first baseball pitches in major games and it is always a sight to see. Conor McGregor‘s first baseball pitch happened in 2021. McGregor threw the ceremonial first pitch before the game. His pitch was way off the mark and it sailed high into the air, significantly missing its intended target. People drew comparisons of McGregor’s throw to other infamous first pitches, such as 50 Cent’s notoriously bad attempt.

Videos of McGregor’s wild pitch quickly went viral online. It garnered a lot of attention and ridicule from fans and media outlets worldwide. Conor McGregor responded to the criticism of his bad first baseball pitch. He pointed out the injury on his leg that he got from Dustin Poirier a few months back and said he was happy with what he scored.
