Travis Kelce home spark Controversy Among NFL fans
What does Travis Kelce look for in a home? According to his most recent real estate purchase, privacy is paramount.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end just leveled up his living situation and bought a 17,000-square-foot mansion in the desirable suburb of Leawood, KS. And it appears Kelce scored a deal on this property—it was originally listed in September 2022 for $6.9 million and is now pending sale at $6 million.
Located inside a gated community, the grand estate sits on nearly 3.5 acres at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. Kelce’s latest land grab is far more secluded than his other home in Kansas City, a 4,200-square-foot home in the city’s Briarcliff West neighborhood that he purchased for $995,000 in 2019.
So why the need for a more private property? A look at his love life tells the story.
Kelce has been romantically linked to Taylor Swift since late September and has become quite a paparazzi magnet, especially when there’s a chance that the pop star will be in town for a home game.
Swift has traveled to Kansas City twice to watch her new beau play, and the comings and goings of the couple have attracted outsize amounts of attention. And gawkers hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple have reportedly started swinging by Kelce’s previous home, which can easily be seen from the street.
Last week, there were even rumors that Swift herself was in town looking to purchase a house in Kansas City. Of course, now we know it was Kelce who made the big real estate buy. Attention from fans and paps alike made Kelce realize he needed a less accessible abode.
Kelce made quite a name for himself in the NFL—even before his recent romance with the world’s biggest pop star. He won a pair of Super Bowls with the Chiefs and secured a four-year contract extension worth $57 million. Now, he has an elegant estate that befits that success.
The six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion sits behind a gated entrance that opens to a dramatic circular driveway. The inside is an entertainer’s dream and includes a chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, media lounge, wine cellar, and full bar.
Outside, the expansive backyard is anchored by a “Beverly Hills-style” pool area with plenty of space for lounge chairs, umbrellas, and pool toys.
There’s also an outdoor kitchen, tennis/pickleball court, waterfall, hot tub, and miniature golf course.
We predict a pool party or two in the future. Perhaps Swift’s annual Fourth of July party will take place in Kansas in 2024? If not, we can always suggest the song title for a future album: “I Left My Love in Leawood.”
