The Texas Rangers edged out the Anaheim Angels in a thrilling 5-4 victory, extending their winning streak to a new season-high of five consecutive games.

Despite an extraordinary effort by Angels’ catcher Logan O’Hoppe, the Rangers clung to their lead and secured the win. O’Hoppe, proving himself to be a formidable everyday player, nearly spoiled the Rangers’ evening. He delivered a stellar performance, going 3-for-4 and belting two home runs off Rangers’ pitcher Max Scherzer, turning what seemed like a clear path to victory for Texas into a tense battle.

The Rangers had an early advantage, leading 4-1 by the top of the third, but their bats quieted down until the eighth inning. It was then that Adolis Garcia stepped up and smashed a critical solo homer that retook the lead for Texas, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner.

Josh Smith was another standout in the game for the Rangers. Snubbed as even an injury alternate for the All-Star game, Smith played with a chip on his shoulder. Matching O’Hoppe’s hit total, Smith went 3-for-4, including a crucial solo home run and added two RBIs, making a strong case for his own star credentials.

Looking ahead, the Rangers will attempt to sweep the series in their next game against the Angels. The pitching matchup will see Texas’ RHP Michael Lorenzen take the mound against Angels’ RHP Griffin Canning. Fans can catch the action on Wednesday night at Angel Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:38 pm CT, broadcasted on BS Southwest.
