Revealed: The VERY surprising link Travis Kelce’s favourite Aussie fashion designer has to the NRL

Sydney-born fashion designer Daniel Patrick has become a favourite of some of the world’s biggest celebrities, models and pro athletes – but as a child he just wanted to play footy like his famous father.

Patrick, 38, grew up in the Sutherland Shire and played lower grade rugby league for the Dragons and Roosters.

He is the son of former Australian Test player Pat Jarvis, who played 211 first-grade games with stints at Eastern Suburbs, St George, Canterbury and North Sydney from 1980 to 1991.

Patrick, who recently designed 38 tracksuits for Travis Kelce to give to his Kansas City teammates, launched his line of high-end streetwear in early 2012 with the desire to ‘make things that I wanted to wear and also make people look and feel good’.

had been interested in fashion since I was a boy and I wanted to pursue it as a career.

‘I went to fashion school at the end of 2006 and dived into it.

‘It was one of those overnight successes that took 12 years. There has been a lot of hard work that has gone into it.

‘I think it’s cool to connect with the athletes because growing up as an athlete, it’s pretty organic for me to design that way.

‘When I first started making clothes, I made clothes that fit me.

‘I came from playing league and doing fashion, and I’m not your stereotypical fashion designer, so a lot of the clothes I make fit those bigger, athletic guys.’

Patrick is now creating a limited-edition tracksuit for the NRL’s launch in Las Vegas, which will also be available to supporters.

I wanted it to be something that any of the teams could wear, any of the team’s supporters could wear, but more so anyone could wear if they weren’t an NRL fan too,’ Patrick said.

‘I wanted to make it like a street wear design that is pretty universal.’
