Recap: Dodgers Lose 1st Game When Miguel Rojas Records A Hit

The Los Angeles Dodgers four-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-3 walk-off loss against the San Francisco Giants, despite a late rally to tie the game.

The two teams were locked into a bit of a pitcher’s duel to begin the game with Landon Knack and Logan Webb both dealing early. The right-handers each worked four scoreless innings without running into much trouble.

That changed in the fifth inning when both teams got on the board. Miguel Rojas singled and came around to score when Gavin Lux doubled, giving L.A. a 1-0 lead. After Shohei Ohtani was intentionally walked, Will Smith broke out of his slump a bit with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

Their rally came to an end when Freddie Freeman grounded into a double play.

The Giants answered back in the bottom half of the inning when Luis Matos hit a one-out solo home run. Brett Wisley followed with a single, and with two outs, Jorge Soler singled to put runners at the corners.

That ended Knack’s night, and Anthony Banda entered the game to retire LaMonte Wade Jr. with a groundout.

Knack finished his outing going 4.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits with a career-high seven strikeouts to no walks. His ERA now sits at 2.08 in 30.1 innings.

Daniel Hudson entered the game in the sixth, and the first runner reached base against him due to an error from Freeman. That led to the Giants taking a 3-2 lead when Matt Chapman blasted his 10th home run of the season.

Ryan Yarbrough kept the Giants off the board for the final two innings, taking the game into the ninth with a one-run deficit.

The Dodgers rallied back to tie it when Andy Pages started the Dodgers off with a triple, and he scored on a sacrifice fly from Jason Heyward to make it a 3-3 game.

In the bottom of the ninth, Blake Treinen walked the leadoff hitter, then gave up a two-run walk-off home run to Wisley.

Pair of Dodgers’ streaks come to an end

Entering the game, the Dodgers were 24-0 when Miguel Rojas gets a hit in the game, however, they are now 24-1 after Rojas went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.

They were also 16-0 when he scored a run, but saw that streak come to an end as well.

Ohtani also entered the game with an RBI in 10 consecutive games, which set a Dodgers’ franchise record. However, he failed to drive in a run against the Giants, brining his historic streak to an end.
