Ohtani’s Monster Homers Not Enough as Dodgers’ Winning Streak Ends in Extra Innings Drama

At Chavez Ravine last night, Shohei Ohtani, in a twist of fate reminiscent of his days with the Angels, powered out a stunning home run but watched as his team, the Dodgers, stumbled to a 3-2 defeat in extra innings against the Angels, pausing their ten-game winning spree over their Southern California rivals.

Tasked with a spot start due to a spate of injuries plaguing the Dodgers’ rotation, Landon Knack took the mound with poise, delivering an admirable performance that saw him pitch five scoreless innings, leading to a temporary lead for the Dodgers. Knack’s showing, boasting a 2.10 ERA over his five starts, has raised questions about his potential ongoing role in the rotation, especially considering the struggles and injuries among his teammates.

The contest saw the Dodgers faced with the challenge of getting past the Angels’ left-handed pitcher Patrick Sandoval, whose early exit due to injury turned the game into an unexpected test against the Angels’ bullpen.
